Join us over July 4th week for an amazing unique trip to Vancouver Canada and the San Juan Islands of Washington.
In Vancouver, eat your way through the historic Gastown district on our food walking tour. We'll visit Bowen Island, a forested paradise for hiking, kayaking, swimming, or art galleries. We'll head south to Orca Island, know for the best views on the peak of Mount Constitution, and San Juan Island known for their kayaking. The islands are famous for their resident pods of Orca Whales as well as an abundance of harbor seals, river otters, sea lions, minke whales, porpoises, and other cetaceans. This trip is perfect for nature and outdoor enthusiasts!

Saturday, June 29: Arrival to Vancouver & Gastown Food Tour
Arrive to Vancouver at 12pn noon, and meet your transfer at the airport. As a group we'll check into our hotel and get settled before venturing out to walk around the downtown area of Vancouver. In mid-afternoon we'll meet our local guide for our history and food walking tour. This tour is Gastown’s one-and-only designated Canadian Signature Experience! We’ll get an amazing food, a charming local guide, and a historic city tour (one of the Forbes’ Top 9 Food Tours in the World!)
Sunday June 30: Village Market & Granville Island
In the morning you’ll have an option to visit the village market. The market has become a major event, attracting both locals and visitors. Dozens of local farmers sell fresh produce and many local artists, craftspeople and artisans display their work at the Village Market.
Granville Island is one of the most visited attractions in Canada. On our 60min tour, we’ll learn about how it has transformed from “Industrial Island” to become a place where visitors and locals alike gather. The tour ends at the Public Market, so you may choose to spend time there, or choose to see more of the city. In the evening we’ll enjoy a night out in downtown Vancouver.
Monday, July 1: Bowen Island
After breakfast we'll take a quick 20-min ferry ride to Bowen Island. Known as a forested paradise, Bowen Island is an outdoor haven. The island’s waters are perfect for swimming and sea kayaking, with sheltered bays and sandy beaches around every corner. If you’re up for a hike or mountain bike, there are endless trails to explore, from steep hills to relaxing strolls. For those looking to experience the island’s culture, Bowen is full quaint shops, restaurants, cafes, and art galleries just a short stroll from the ferry in Snug Cove. It’s Canada’s fourth-most artistic community per capita, so be sure to check out the work of the talented local artists! The people on Bowen Island are also known for their laid-back living, so you’ll be feeling relaxed in no time.
Tuesday, July 2: Open Day in Vancouver
Today you will have a full day to do what you wish in Vancouver!
Here are some ways to spend your time:
-Capilano Suspension Bridge Park: One of the most popular tourist attractions in Vancouver. This is a walking activity 100+ feet above the ground, with amazing views! There are shuttle buses from downtown Vancouver
In early evening, we'll depart to the airport for people departing home or start our drive south for those continuing on our San Juan Islands adventure. Our overnight will be in Seattle.
Wednesday, July 3: Departure to Orca Island
After breakfast and by noon, we'll drive to San Juan Islands Ferry, arriving on Orca Island in the early evening and check into our hotel.
We will take a quick drive around the island, and after you will have the remaining time to explore the area. Our hotel is located within walking distance to all of the restaurants and bars. We'll be sure to watch the fireworks after our group dinner!
Thursday, July 4: Hike Mt Constitution (optional) & Open Day
After breakfast, we will make our way to Moran State Park to hike the 2,400ft Mt. Constitution. This is a 6-mile round-trip hike. On a clear day you can see Mount Rainer, Mount Baker, the Cascade mountain range, and the Olympic mountain range on the Olympic Peninsula-the views are amazing. If you choose not to hike up, a drive to the top to see the views will be given at a later date. We will pack a lunch to enjoy at the top of Mount Constitution.
There will be options if you wish not to hike. Walking the town, swimming and relaxing at the lake, flat short hike.
For the remaining of the day, you can choose to go swimming after the hike at the Lake in Moran State Park, or take in an optional activity. We will meet in the evening for a group dinner and see more fireworks!
Friday, July 5: Optional Day and Depart to San Juan Island
Enjoy this day at leisure until we depart for the ferry at 1-2:00pm. Enjoy a couple of hours kayaking, horseback riding, sailing, or just walking around town in all of the quaint shops. In the early afternoon, we will pack our van for the ferry to San Juan Island. Once we arrive here, we will check into our hotel
After we are checked in, we will take a quick drive around the island. When we return, this will be a good time to sign up for any activities you may want to do on Saturday. Whale watching is well known, as well as kayaking. Our hotel is located within walking distance to all of the restaurants and bars.
Saturday, July 6: Optional Day-whale watching, horseback riding, zip-lining, biking, kayaking....!
This may be a very tough decision since there are so many fun things to do on San Juan Island. Sign up for a tour, or go on your own-but whatever you decide, you will enjoy! San Juan island is a hidden gem of an island.
On San Juan Island, you will discover something new around every bend in the road-and alpaca ranch, a sweeping valley dotted with cows or sheep, the terraces of a lavender farm, vineyards with a tasting room in a historic schoolhouse, deep forest, a pod of orca whales, and two iconic lighthouses. Beauty, variety, serenity...it's all here!
In the evening we'll have a group dinner and drinks in town.
Sunday, July 7: Pike Place Market in Seattle & Departure
After we check out of our hotel, we will take an afternoon ferry back to the mainland. We will drive to Seattle and have some time in the afternoon to explore Seattle (browse at Pike Place Market). If you are looking to spend as much time in Seattle as possible, its recommended to take an overnight flight from Seattle to NYC leaving around 9pm, and arriving NYC around 6am on Monday OR spend the night!
Pike Place Market is Seattle's center for fresh, locally produced food. Established in 1907 to connect citizens and farmers, the Market continues its "Meet the Producer" tradition with a year-round farmers market and locally owned bakeries, seafood, dairy and butcher shops. A nine-acre historic district, the Market features one of the largest craft markets in the country, featuring local, handcrafted goods. The Market is home to more than 200 independent small businesses.
