Friday, February 8: Depart Location
If you purchased airfare through Circle the World, your flight will depart JFK at 6:30pm, arriving to Cairo Saturday morning. Others who purchased their own airfare would need to arrive by 12-1pm on Saturday, or they will need to find own airport transfer.
Saturday, February 9: Arrival & Sunset Over Pyramids
We arrive to Cairo at 12:30pm and will go through customs to meet our guide and driver. We'll be taken to our Five Star Giza hotel to freshen up and have lunch. In the early evening, we'll take some seats at a roof-top hotel in Giza to watch the sunset. After the sunset finishes around 6pm, we'll enjoy our first Egyptian meal before settling in for the night.
Sunday, February 10: Giza Pyramids, Sphinx, & Egyptian Museum
Our morning will start early to beat the crowds at the Giza Pyramids! The Great Pyramid of Giza (also known as the Pyramid of Khufu or the Pyramid of Cheops) is the oldest and largest of the three pyramids in the Giza pyramid complex. It is the oldest of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World, and the only one to remain largely intact.
Our next stop will be the Great Sphinx of Giza, a giant 4,500-year-old limestone statue near the Great Pyramids of Giza. One of the world's largest monuments measuring 240 feet long and 66 feet high. It is also one of the most recognizable relics of the ancient Egyptians.
Our final stop for the day will be the amazing Egyptian Museum in Cairo. The Egyptian museum is home to 120,000 Egyptian artifacts. Here we will explore the ancient Egyptians treasures specially the treasures of King Tut-Ank-Amun. He is the most famous of all the Egyptian pharaohs. King Tutankhamen tomb was still relatively intact when it was initially discovered in 1922 by Howard Carter. You will have an option to visit the special mummy section of the museum.
In the evening, we will transfer to the airport for our 1hr flight to Luxor, and overnight at a hotel.
Monday, February 11: West Bank of Luxor, Valley of Kings and Queens
Our morning will start after our breakfast at the hotel. We will tour to the west bank of Luxor where we will visit a lot of sightseeing there. Our first stop will be Memnon Colossi then we will visit Queen Hatsheput temple which part of it was carved in the rock and the rest was built in three levels. Then we will visit the Valley of the Kings, where we will explore some of its tombs and the amazing colored walls with the scenes of the book of the dead.
We will return to Luxor and check-in to our 5 Star Cruise and enjoy lunch there. The afternoon is free for you to enjoy the many things Luxor has to offer. Dinner will be on the boat.
Tuesday, February 12: Karnak & Luxor Temple
After breakfast on the boat, our guide will take us to visit Karnak and Luxor Temples. Karnak Temple is the oldest religious building ever constructed. It is a city of temples built over 2,000 years and dedicated to the Theban triad of Amun, Mut, and Khonsu. Our next visit is Luxor Temple, dating around 1392 BC. Luxor Temple was an important political and religious center since it was part of the ancient city of Thebes, the capital of Egypt.
We will return to the boat to have lunch and the remaining of the day you may rest or enjoy the swimming pool on the boat. The boat will depart and navigate south through the locks of Esna towards Edfu. Our dinner will be on the boat and overnight in Edfu.
Wednesday, February 13: Edfu Temple & Kom Ombo
After breakfast on the boat our guide will take us to Edfu temple by buggy then come back to the boat after two hours.
The cruise will depart and navigate to Kom Ombo, having lunch on the boat. The cruise will reach Kom Ombo in the late afternoon in which we'll depart the boat walk with our tour guide to the temple of Kom Ombo for a visit. Upon our return to the boat, we will depart and navigate to Aswan reaching here in the late evening.
Thursday, February 14: Abu Simbel (optional), Falucca Ride, & Nubian Village
Today will be a very early morning for our drive to Abu Simbel (optional). Abu Simbel temples are two massive rock temples at Abu Simbel, a village in Nubia, southern Egypt. Built by the greatest of the pharaohs, Ramesses II, these huge rock-cut temples marked the southern boundary of the Egyptian Empire with Nubia at the peak of its power during the New Kingdom. They were meant to convey the power of Egypt’s rulers to anyone who laid eyes upon them.
We will return to the boat in time for lunch and a swim in the pool on the boat if you wish. In the mid afternoon we'll enjoy a 1hr Falucca ride on the Nile River and a visit to the Nubian Village to see how the people live. Enjoy our last night on our boat.
Friday, February 15: Aswan High Dam, Temple of Philea & Cairo
After breakfast on the boat, we'll take our luggage and meet our guide and driver. Our first stop will be Aswan Dam measuring 364 feet high and crest length of 12,562 feet. Our next stop is the Temple of Philea, one of Nubia's most important monument sites. This temple is an ancient pilgrimage center for the cult of Isis and dazzled travelers with its power for centuries.
In the late afternoon we'll drive to the Aswan airport for our 1.5hr flight back to Cairo arriving for dinner.
Saturday, February 16: Mosque of Mahammed Ali, Old Cairo, & Khan El Khalili Bazaar
After breakfast at the hotel, our tour guide will take use to the Mosque Mohammed Ali and visit inside the citadel. Our next visit will be Coptic (Old Cairo) to visit the hanging church and Abu Serga church where baby Jesus stayed with his mother Mary almost 2000 years ago when they fled to Egypt. We'll also visit Ben Ezra Jewish Synagogue. In the mid afternoon we'll get our shopping in at the Khan El khalili bazaar in Islamic Cairo.
Sunday, February 17: Depart Home OR 3-Day Extension to Petra
If today is your departing day back home, your transfer will take you to the airport in early morning for your 10:30AM flight to JFK arriving at 3:30pm on Sunday.
